Conversations over Matcha is a series dedicated to exploring the daily rituals of friends of Maiasa within the beauty, well-being, and design industry. Join us as we step into the intimate spaces of their homes, where shared moments over matcha become a backdrop for candid discussions about routines, self-care, and the nuanced perspectives on maintaining balance in life.

Today we speak with Creative Director Olivier De Croock

Q: Tell us a little about yourself
A: I’m Olivier De Croock. I live in Antwerp with my partner Hannes and our two dachshunds. My work revolves around creating table settings, flower arrangements, and interior designs – bringing beauty and balance into spaces.

Q: What does well-being mean to you?
A: Well-being, for me, is about feeling good and healthy, both physically and mentally. It’s about achieving a state of balance where you feel genuinely good about where you are in life, free from stress and anxiety.

Q: What is your favourite way to start your day?
A: I love to start my day very simply: a good cappuccino and a walk with my two dogs. It’s my way of easing into the day, enjoying the little things, and spending time outside.

Q: What everyday rituals do you practice to improve your overall well-being?
A: My daily rituals include taking supplements, choosing to walk or bike everywhere in Antwerp, and maintaining an organised home. Being outdoors and having a tidy space is key to my mental and physical well-being.

It’s about achieving a state of balance where you feel genuinely good about where you are in life, free from stress and anxiety.

Q: Which space or place makes you feel most at home?
A: The living room is where I feel most at home and where I can unwind. It’s our chill zone where we listen to music and relax. It is curated with objects and memories that represent our life, and designed to be a peaceful retreat from the busy, outside world.

Q: What do you do to unwind?
A: I love taking long baths and focusing on my skincare routine. It’s my time to zone out. Recently, I have loved doing Gua Sha at home. I avoid too much news and enjoy listening to music to relax and recharge.

Q: What is your favourite place for well-being in Antwerpen?
A: I don’t have a specific place for this. For me, it’s more about the experience of travelling and discovering new places. I love the excitement of new adventures and perspectives; it recharges my energy and inspires my creativity.

Q: How do you take your matcha?
A: I’m not really into matcha, to be honest. My morning go-to is a cappuccino.
