Single-Origin Gyokuro

Gyokuro is considered the highest class of green tea in Japan, known for its superior quality and refined taste. It offers a luxurious, velvety, and sweet umami flavour that lingers on the palate, creating a prolonged and delightful aftertaste.

Our premium single-origin Gyokuro, harvested in May 2024, comes from the Gokou cultivar in the Sōraku District, a mountainous area celebrated for its superior Sencha. It has a light green hue and a delicate aroma, with rich, sweet notes. It embodies the concentrated and distinct umami of the Gokou cultivar.

Compared to Sencha, our Gyokuro is smoother and more full-bodied, packed with umami and it is less astringent thanks to its high levels of L-theanine. When cultivated using the traditional Japanese methods, its fragrance becomes exceptionally rich, up to five times more powerful than that of Sencha, providing an extra beautiful and aromatic experience.

How to use

To prepare a serving, use 5 grams of tea leaves. Place the leaves in a teapot and pour 90 ml of warm water (50-60 degrees Celsius) over them in circular motions. Allow the tea to steep for 2-2.5 minutes. Using cooler water results in a less bitter flavour and a sweeter umami profile. This single serving can be brewed up to five times, with the flavour evolving with each subsequent brew.
